Our associates regularly get asked how they became equipment appraisers. While there are a few organizations that accredited equipment appraisers, our appraisers have designations from the American Society of Appraisers (ASA), from the Association of Machinery & Equipment Appraisers (AMEA), or both.
The ASA provided a good overview on how to become an equipment appraiser, so if you’re interested, that is definitely the place to start.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

Hello,
Can you tell me if there is or where I can go to find my state’s licensing guidelines for Heavy Duty Truck and Equipment Appraisers?

Ryan:
We’re not experts on licensing requirements in all states, so we don’t have a definitive answer for you. To our understanding, though, there is no state licensing–-in any state-–for equipment appraisers in the U.S. While each state has differing requirements for real property appraisers, we are not aware of anything similar required for those that value machinery and equipment.
